A romantic industrial wedding at The Penguin Room in Baltimore. Helen and John are what I could describe as my dream couple. They are so warm and inviting as well as kind hearted. I realized the second I met them at a venue tour that I wanted to capture their wedding. The two are real jokesters. They love to make jokes, laugh and find humor in everything. There were so many moments during their wedding weekend that had me laughing and smiling and just so excited to be around them.
The couple tied the knot this past September in Baltimore Maryland at the new industrial city venue, The Penguin Room. The Penguin Room is located at the end of Whitehall Mill which is a newly renovated historical building in the Baltimore neighborhood of Clipper Mill. The market features awesome Baltimore city vendors as well at the newly added Penguin Room. The name is paying homage to White halls history in the 1950’s & 60’s. The event space is a large industrial building with the charming exposed brick that Baltimore architecture is known for. It’s the perfect canvas to really create a personal environment that suits every couple’s needs.
Helen said they loved the venue for the industrial city feel. She really saw the raw potential in the space because we toured the venue while it was in the beginning stages of construction. She said their vibe was a relaxed, semi-formal event with boho elements and natural tones. Which you could see all throughout the décor which Helen made herself!
The couple met through mutual friends and hit it off! As I mentioned earlier they both have a great sense of humor and it shows when they are together. They decided to really make their wedding a weekend to remember with their friends and family. They celebrated with a really fun rehearsal dinner at Nepenthe brewing company the night before the wedding. Their guests enjoyed an open bar and great food while enjoying each other’s company. It was such a fun, relaxed atmosphere and a great way to start off the wedding weekend. The next day the couple got ready at the Marriott in downtown Baltimore, City. The hotel is located on the promenade of the inner harbor. Helen and her girls wore the most comical getting ready outfits. Oversized bikini tee’s. A true tribute to her humor. John and the guys relaxed with some beers. They decided to share a private first look by the water. You could tell how excited John was to see his bride! They took advantage of the morning and grabbed shots with their family and bridal party before heading to the venue where everyone relaxed in the market until it was time to walk down the aisle.
They had so many unique personal touches from the handmade décor and all through the environment of the night. They featured a popular Baltimore band, the Bachelor Boys and during cocktail hour they had a delicious Oyster Bar, The Local Oyster & True Chesapeake which is one of the featured vendors of the Whitehall Market. True to character Helen and her dad shred the cutest father, daughter dance where they bopped around to Jimmy Buffet’s, Cheeseburger in Paradise. It was so cute and funny and put the biggest smile on everyone’s face. They had the most amazing night with great food, signature desserts and lots of dancing! Helen and John loved spending cocktail hour and having that time to chat and mingle with their guests. The pair are mostly looking forward to “Taking on life together – being with each other through good and bad times!” Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Waite and as their hashtag said it was worth the Waite!
